Stage Performance Reviews

"Passion is at the core of the "Piaf" Persona, in this case there is a surrogate, she is RAQUEL BITTON." - Anna Kisselgoff.
New York Times

"Dear Raquel, your singing is superb, and I was so happy to find out to which extent you possess the "Climat" PIAF. Your voice, your heart, your talent would have pleased her so much, I assure you. - HENRI CONTET (Author of more than 40 of Piaf's songs..Le Vieux Piano, T'es beau tu sais...)

Paris Blues

.... Even if you don’t understand a word of French, it’s impossible not to appreciate the raw grandeur of Bitton (who, as she’s previously proven on CD and in various stage tributes, sounds precisely like a latter-day Edith Piaf) as she so expertly captures the smoky sophistication of Reinhardt’s “Nuages” or the succulent joie de vivre of Bechet’s “Petite Fleur” or, most profoundly, the gutsy magnificence of Marjane’s “Je Suis Seule ce Soir.” (more)

Dream A Little Dream

Her all-Piaf show, captured on the soon to be rereleased live recording Raquel Bitton Sings Edith Piaf, has earned her ovations in Toronto, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia and at Carnegie Hall, and has enabled her to elbow out such A-list contenders as Madonna and Celine Dion for the title role in a forthcoming Piaf film biography. But her latest studio album, Dream a Little Dream, is essentially Piaf free. Updated April 26, 2019 – By Christopher Loudon, JazzTimes.com (more)

Changes

RAQUEL BITTON born in Marrakech Morocco and settled in San Francisco,is the singer, and "Changes" is her appropriately-titled album. It's a long way after all from Brel to Brooks & Dunn. BITTON however, sees and hears an obvious bridge between French ballads and country music. "My forte is telling stories," said Bitton. But the music of Maurice Chevalier and Michel Legrand isn't exactly top of the pops, and as Bitton confessed"I wanted to conquer radio". Ben Fong - Torres, The Gavin Music Report (more)

I Wish You Love
